Composer Dan Kinzelman and choreographer Daniele Ninarello meet for the first time on a common ground for exploration: space as a place in which to exercise and transfigure the physical and sonic body, its transience, its impermanence, the struggle to resist.
Dan Kinzelman performs a suite of improvised music, mixing synthesis, noise and feedback together with the sounds of his saxophone and voice, creating complex, stratified textures with the help of a loop station.
In composing the choreographic part, Daniele Ninarello not only explores his familiar field of instant composition, but works within a territory created by the constant dialogue with the soundscape and the information he receives from it, to contact the invisible threads that bind body and space.
The experimentation with sound and with the body thus tends to translate the perceptive elements that make the evolution of the human figure visible. Something inside the body vibrates constantly like a threat: it is chaos, the inner noise of scars and thoughts. And this is true for everyone. Only dance can gradually bring these traces into the here and now.
And wipe the gaze clean, find peace. Like a true physical mantra to explore in its continuity: the mute perimeter of properly unshackled thought.

What do we mean when we talk about Dust? Powder, in its entirety, is a complex of very small dry land particles, raised by the wind and deposited everywhere. It in its dynamic motion creates clouds of dust; It raises, raises, can be thrown, accumulated, mixed. But Powder is also associated with the man’s tradition, its spirit, its essence, as a sign of mourning in the act of sprinkling the head of dust. In a more figurative sense, Powder indicates the time it passes, returns to abandonment, oblivion.
Everything becomes Powder: the mountains become deserted, the people become dust, the dust surrounds our living space, it is deposited and remains in suspension. We are made of Powder: “This pulvis es et in pulverem reverteris”: Powder Six and Dust will come back.
The path The path taken with the recent production One plus One Equals One, has seen us investigate the space in relation to the sound. This assumption has led us to see how the body, like the sound, reacts to a stimulus and the space in which it is caused. The movement that is generated is initially instinctive, primitive. The body in reaction to sound defines space by drawing its limits and possibilities, moving to the limit of physical exploration.
But the body is nothing more than a “cumulation of dust”, compressed matter atoms that resist dispersion in space due to its density and attractiveness. Man is Powder, but also the earth and the space around us, the mountains, even the atmosphere is full.
Here, then, “Powder”, in continuity with “One plus one equals one”, sweeps over this same work, revises it and deepens a particular aspect, namely the dynamics of movement and space, starting from an element that belongs to us and out. What happens to body matter when it is pushed, launched, mixed? How does it relate to the Dust surrounding it? How does it react to the powder it contains? Can the body take different forms in relation to its substance and space? From these questions begins and continues our research. The “Powder” show, based on what has already been explored with “One plus one equals one”, expands the study of physical dynamics that affect body movement, more specifically the body-Dust.
