What is FIC FESTIVAL?

Scenario Pubblico/Compagnia Zappalà Danza presents the fifth edition of FIC Festival, curated by the visionary artistic direction of Roberto Zappalà. Starting from 2024, it will also be known as “Catania Contemporanea”.
From 3rd to 12th of May 2024 Catania will be the stage for a unique cultural event, a festival primarily dedicated to contemporary dance but in the contamination with other disciplines, such as music, theater, cinema and visual arts.

We are gearing up for a special edition as the program will revolve around a specific theme, focusing on the recovery and preservation of contemporary repertoire and the enhancement of creative roots. A number of local partners will be involved, turning the festival into a true and widespread celebration in the heart of the city. Through FIC, acronym for ‘Focolaio di Infezione Creativa’ (Creative Infection Hub), Scenario Pubblico aims to infuse creativity into various locations in the city.
All festival activities will unfold around the theme of repertoire, including an important section of workshops featuring artists whose work is aimed at transmitting to the participants the language and repertoire of some of the most interesting European choreographers.

Workshop

Ten days dedicated to the study of the repertoire with: Joy Alpuerto Ritter (Akram Khan repertoire), Maud de la Purification (Roberto Zappalà repertoire) and Rosario Guerra (Marco Goecke repertoire)

Two different modules which will end up with a public sharing of the material learnt during the workshop.

Classes have a limited number of places for a maximum of 30 dancers. The deadline to submit the applications is the 11th of March 2024 and if the maximum number of participants is reached before the deadline, applications will be closed in advance.

The classes of Maud de la Purification will also be valid for the selection of dancers for the MoDem Pro and MoDem Atelier programs.
All workshop participants will get a 20% discount on all of the performances scheduled during FIC FESTIVAL 2024.
