The 2020/21 Season of Scenario Pubblico, in the idea of ​​Roberto Zappalà, conceived and created together with the visual designer Maurizio Leonardi, is a mixture of experiences, conceptual and physical art and needs of the present. The scenic mechanism Panopticon NanoFestival, wants to overturn the perception of “loneliness, control, protection of the individual”.

Panoptes, a giant of Greek mythology, who possessed a hundred eyes and therefore considered a perfect guardian, gives its name to the ideal prison designed in 1791 by the philosopher and jurist Jeremy Bentham.

Not only therefore a way to overcome the restrictions imposed by Covid19 safety standards. Panopticon by Roberto Zappalà is already a work even before dance enters it and represents, in a certain sense, the suffering of the performing arts, as it is itself a scenic forcing. In a dramatic historical moment in which individuals have distanced themselves, separated and isolated Panopticon performs a social function of rapprochement because the public enters and is part of the work of art.

The shows will be staged from 6 to 22 November for 3 weekends, multiple performances per evening and a limited number of spectators are scheduled with sanitization of the structure in the interval between the various shifts and compliance with the safety distances. An introduction to the project will be edited by several intellectuals who will take turns in the evenings.

The project starts from the desire to replicate and emancipate the concept that we have been taking care of for 5 years at ScenarioFarm – inside the famous Favara Cultural Park – in Favara, which takes the name of NanoFestival. In this case we propose it again on the scene with some not only relational features – in Favara it was created with a one by one approach, artist / spectator – but also historical-behavioral.

Solos and duets with dancers from: Civil Ballet, Spellbound Dance Company, CCNR / Yuval Pick, Petranura Danza, Abbondanza / Bertoni, steptext dance project, Moritz Ostruschnjak / Daniela Bendini, Samir Calixto. Compagnia Zappalà Danza will be present with some of its dancers.

The Scenario Pubblico Season also includes some residences, including that of Chiara Frigo and Samir Calixto, the latter for the realization of his new creation entitled SEEKER ※ ONLY in co-production with the Dutch structure Korzo.
