Maria Inguscio
Born in Catania in 1969, she soon began to study violin and piano, then dedicating herself also to opera singing and musical composition. In 1988 she graduated in foreign languages and from 1990 to 1992 she taught German language at the Archiepiscopal Seminary of Catania. Between 1985 and 1996 she collaborated as violinist with numerous chamber quartets and orchestras in Italy and Switzerland.
In 1997 she began to collaborate with Compagnia Zappalà Danza, a leading company in the Italian dance panorama, with the task of production secretary and tour manager. In 2002 she was among those responsible for the opening of Scenario Pubblico in Catania, a rare example in Italy of a European choreographic center, created with private and European funds. Since its opening, Scenario Pubblico has imposed itself on the European scene with an intense and articulated activity that includes production, hospitality, residences, training. Maria Inguscio takes care of the management and programming together with the artistic director Roberto Zappalà. In 2015 Scenario Pubblico and Compagnia Zappalà Danza converged into a single organization, which was recognized by MIBACT – Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activity – as one of the four National Dance Production Centers.
Today she is the general manager of Scenario Pubblico/ Compagnia Zappalà Danza – Centro Nazionale di Produzione della Danza
