With ‘Songs of Love and Bones’, Helge Letonja leads the audience into an artistic oasis of sensuality. The new choreography reveals complex, surprising and profound facets of love in the intensity of dance and authentic closeness. From the spring awakening of social beings to the darker side of complex relationship patterns, the dancers move to evergreen favourites and newly discovered love songs. With their expressive and individual dance languages and the special combination of contemporary and popular music from the jazz, soul and pop genres, they not only reach dance-loving audiences, but also open up direct access to all those who are new to this artistic expression. In finely drawn solos and duets, conflicts and vulnerabilities are unmasked, desires are exposed and inwardness is turned outwards. The dance becomes a dialogue between the body and the songs, allowing for a profound experience by fanning out inter-human emotional worlds and, with a wink, inviting us to question what we have learned as our role models.
